Product Review - Vichy Bi White Corrective Care

Vichy Bi White Corrective was one of the first skin lightening products I've ever tried. What initially intrigued me was the active ingredients, which were a combination of Vitamin C (L-Ascorbic Acid at 3% (I emailed Vichy Labs for the percentage), Liquorice Extract and a patented molecule by the name of Procystein. Together these ingredients reduce the melanin content within the skin and reverse the signs of sun damage.

Let's start with the good: I love the packaging of the product because it keeps the Vitamin C stable and free from being oxidized prematurely. It comes in a 30 ml metal tube that has a squeeze tip. The directions state to use a nut sized amount on the face.

Now having oily, acne prone skin and looking at the inactive ingredients I can say using a pea sized is best since the Vichy Bi White Corrective Care is not oil-free (has soybean oil which can be troublesome). I would apply a pea sized amount in the morning right after cleansing off my retinoid and eye cream. The product has a serum-like texture and spreads evenly. I applied sunscreen on top of this.

I definitley saw an improvement in my skin tone. The product helped to fade a stubborn tan that I got from a trip to France earlier that year, as well as brightened my entire complexion. It does an excellent job fading brown acne marks and lightening up freckles. Also due to the Vitamin C content in the product, it also provides some form of exfoliation so that also helped to create an instantly more luminous appearance.

The Bad: Alright, so the product has its flaws. First, the fact that it is not oil-free. I found if I applied anything more than a pea my face would look extremely greasy. I got a few breakouts on my forehead as well, and mainly due to this I had to discontinue using this.

It's really too bad since the product *does* actually work. My skin became 1 shade lighter, brighter and I saw a reduction in freckles. The oily nature of the product didn't gel well with my skin and eventually broke me out. I bought the Vichy Bi White Corrective Care for $35 CDN at Shoppers Drug Mart. The entire Bi White line goes on sale every summer between July-August.

Hi! Actually I started seeing results by the second week of using this one. I became 1 full shade lighter by the 5th week of daily use. I didn't even use up the full tube. I had quite a bit left in there.

I stopped because my oily skin just couldn't tolerate it. It is a really good product though. I found this one worked better at getting rid of acne marks than the new one. I now use the new Vichy Bi White Double Reveal, which I have a review for as well. That one is oil-free, but has different ingredients.

This one is still sold and is more popular than the new version. If you don't have extremely acne-prone skin, I would definitley recommend you give this one a try.

The old version is sold at my local drugstore (Shoppers Drug Mart), but is still sold in some online vendors for anyone not living in Canada.

Check these out:

Here is an ebay link you can get it from: http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/Vichy-Bi-White-Advanced-Intensive-Whitening-Corrective_W0QQitemZ200384519097QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_216?hash=item2ea7d91bb9&_trksid=p3911.c0.m14

The new Double Reveal version is now replacing most of the old ones on online sites.

Hey there! in a trip to brazil I also got too tanned, and I particularly don't like tanned skin. I'm thinking about buying the vichy bi-white reveal but also heard about "melani-d" from La roche-posay, which is pretty much the same, but with sunscreen included. My question is, you used this for the face, but what about the body? What did u use or recommend? Cheers

Hi Anastasia,

The Bi White is a great, mild skin lightener. It's not as strong as a Vitamin C serum since it doesn't contain pure L-ascorbic acid (pure vitamin c) but instead a synthetic form, but it's still effective and I still use it. It's lightened me up a bit.

The Mela-D from LRP is a good sunscreen to use. What you can do is use the Mela-D in the daytime to get sun protection and some mild lightening and use the Vichy Bi White Double Reveal Whitening Essence at night.

For your body, you can use body lightening creams.

Makari Body Beautifying Milk

or

Dr. Michelle Copeland AHA Body Smoothing Lotion
http://skincarerx.com/Dr.-Michelle-Copeland-AHA-Body-Smoothing-Lotion.html#write_a_review

Also regularily keep the skin on your body exfoliated (with a gentle scrub or a luffa). Make sure to be gentle and wear protective clothing. If you are going to be wearing t-shirts and such and know you are going to be in the sun for awhile that day, try looking for a sunscreen catered for the body. I know a lot of people who like using spray on ones for body skin since it's just simpler. La Roche Posay, RoC, Neutrogena and Banana Boat all make spray on ones that are decent.

As long as you keep your skin protected from any further sun damage, it will slowly revert to it's original color and lose the tan.
=)
