Yllume Ultimate Illuminating Complex

In the past, I rarely ever gave much thought of the internal state of our bodies to the look and feel of our skin. Only recently from personal experience have I learned how the link between the two can make your skin look completley different. I eat about 50% raw (raw food diet) and focus on getting in lots of antioxidants not only for my overall health but for my skin. I also take zinc and vitamin D3 supplements that seem to have a very positive effect on my acne (which is non-existent now, yay!) It definitley shows, my skin looks better now than it ever has from eating less processed foods and more healthy, fresh food. The 'glow of health' that so many people talk about is real. Let me tell you, I didnt believe in it either but the luminosity does shine through.

I will say though, even with this change in perspective of internal health and skin status, I am always doubtful of  oral skin lightening supplements. They usually are glutathione pills or amino acid (sulfur) supplemention which on their own are useless in regards to melanin inhibition.

So I wasn't too impressed when I stumbled upon this fairly new skin lightening system - the Yllume Ultimate Illuminating Complex. A combination of an antioxidant based cream and supplement which restore radiance within the skin from the inside out. Basically, Yllume has designed a system to provide antioxidant skin lightening both ways (through oral supplementation) and topically.

Thus far, most of the products I feature on my blog are topical skin lighteners and antioxidants. I firmly believe topical skin lightening is the most effective approach since the active ingredients are directly infused into the skin. Results are usually faster and stronger too.

However there is no denying that antioxidant consumption internally can play a role in skin lightening. I have mentioned in Shedding Light On Glutathinone that I believe in the studies and claims that glutathione injected directly into the bloodstream can yield potent skin lightening effects. It definitley can inhibit tyrosinase quite well, and through IV is the best way. Orally - glutathione is destroyed within the digestive process rather quickly.

The Yllume Illuminating Complex is a two-in-one product. There is an oral skin lightening supplement and a topical skin cream. The oral supplement contains a host of antioxidants. Here is the breakdown from the Yllume website:

Yllume’s Ultimate Illuminating Complex food supplement enhances this radiance with our skin-nourishing blend of antioxidants and active brightening compounds. Benefits are delivered via the bloodstream, at the deepest levels, your skin’s tone becomes more even, as hyper-pigmentation is brought under control, and more radiant from top to toe.

Lightens: PhytoflORAL®, an exclusive, patented system of Colourless Carotenoids, protects skin against the effects of UV rays, slowing melanin production, for a lighter even skin tone.

Brightens: CoQ10, L-Cysteine and Vitamin C, improves our natural resistance to damage from free radicals and sunlight.

Tightens: Anthocomplete™, a super-blend of Berry Anthocyanins, targets free radicals to reduce the visible signs of ageing, boost collagen production and plump up your skin.

The PhytoflORAL patent is an extract from colorless tomatoes. These are carotenoids which are known antioxidants and do have an effect against UV rays. According to Yllume, this is what affects the melanin production of the skin. By intense antioxidant acitivity and working in synergy with the other ingredients (L-Cysteine, Vitamin C etc.).

The L-Cysteine is a pre cursor to glutathinone. Taken with glutathione, it's been proven to be a lot more effective in increasing the glutathione in the body as opposed to just taking the glutathione pills only. There are a few studies out there that show that it also decreases the production of eumelanin.

This oral skin supplement promises to lighten, brighten and restore radiance. It is free of preservatives, artificial colours, gelatin, gluten, salt and yeast.

The pills obviously work hand in hand with the cream that comes with the Yllume system. The cream contains some antioxidant derivatives and botanical extracts.

Yllume states that skin brightening occurs from the first few applications and depending on the condition of the skin. Visible skin lightening results on the other hand vary anywhere from 4-6 weeks.

To be perfectly honestly, I will say the cream does seem a little less than satisfactory. Well, on its own that is. Perhaps coupled with the oral pills the antioxidant effect will be greater, therefore a potential stronger skin lightening effect can occur. There is no denying this system is a valid antioxidant product.

If anything, I would assume it would act as a skin brightener or a way to get a luminous glow. Perhaps even correct some UV damage, which I think is worth it if you are looking for that.

I'm interested in researching more into the Yllume Ultimate Illuminating Complex, but for now I just wanted to post about it. This product is really a fascinating new spin on antioxidant skin lightening. If you are looking to incorporate antioxidants into your regimen, this might be for you. If you do decide to get it, please let me know as I am incredibly interested. If you live in the UK, Yllume does offer free delivery.

I highly suggest to visit the official site for specific details and results from the clinical trial. It's quite interesting. The oral supplements combined with the brightening cream *may* be an effective skin lightening method. The results from the research seem to be prove that. :)

I know this post is actually about the Illuminating Complex, but I'm curious about your raw food diet! I think it's great you can actually see the physical difference it makes. On a typical day, what do you eat? Do you have raw food for every meal?

Being on a mostly raw food diet was a goal of mine for this year. It's a wonderful way of eating that actually 'changes' you, in the way you feel and look. I even went through a mild detox phase.

The actual skin changes are astounding. Redness (flushing) is almost completley absent in my skin and I just look 'brighter' and more glowy all the time. It's something I can notice, not just other people so it's quite amazing.

I don't eat every meal as raw, I would be 100% then and that would take me years to get to, lol. I can't imagine doing that at this point. I need at least one cooked meal (that is healthy) usually at dinner time when I most hungry.

I eat breakfast, lunch and all snacks raw though. My fridge is loaded with veggies and fruits. I love to snack on raw nuts and seeds, and I got a juicer a couple of months back so I make a lot of great live enzyme fusions that make me feel amazing!

If you are interested in raw foods I highly recommend the Raw Food Detox Diet by Natalia Rose. Amazing read, I got it last year and have been fascinated ever since. ;)

Wow! I'm so happy for you <333

Good luck with the raw food diet. It is a wonderful way of eating that did make me glow. I am definitley not 100 percent raw or probably ever will be. It's sooo hard , lol. I actually kind of fell of band wagon with that recently but plan on making use of my juicer.

Juicing is fun. Look up making green lemonade. It's a great way to get all your calcium without getting any dairy :)

I use the 1000 IU tablets by Jamieson. The generic store brands are just as good (and less expensive). Just make sure to look for USP verified somewhere on the bottle (it should state it) which indicates it's been regulated by the FDA.

There is lots of research out there saying 1000 IU per 25lbs body weight is ideal. I follow this since I don't get enough vitamin D elsewhere :)
