Body Sunscreens

Finding the right sunscreen in general is difficult since not all sunscreens work for all skin types. A lot of us neglect to protect the skin on our bodies and focus only on protecting our faces and neck. If you want an even skin tone throughout your body, or are using skin lighteners on areas like your arms and legs, it's pivotal to use sunscreen to protect your results.

Since using facial sunscreens is just not economical on large surfaces like the body, getting a seperate sunscreen for your body is the most wise thing you can do (body sunscreens are usually 100ml and are about the same price as facial sunscreens, so you are getting a lot more for your money). Especially now that we are in the thick of summer, where most of us are spending a lot of times outdoors or going on vacation.

I must admit, looking for a good body sunscreen in the North American market is quite tedious. Since I personally don't like to use oxybenzone based sunscreens (I've outlined the reasons in A Sunscreen Ingredient To Avoid: Oxybenzone) and US brand sunscreens all seem to contain it. Now if you don't mind using sunscreens that have oxybenzone in it, then the search is probably much easier. Neutrogena, Banana Boat and Coppertone have tons of sunscreen sprays and lotions that you can use. But for people like me who are just trying to eliminate as many potential dangers as possible, it's probably best to look to European, Japanese or Canadian sunscreens.

There are a lot of great sunscreens designed for the body out there (Avene, La Roche Posay and Vichy are all three brands that make excellent body sunscreens). Below is just a few recommendations.
