Recommended Sunscreens Part 1

Photo Credit: NYDailyNews

Since sunscreen is the single most important product in a skin lightening regimen, I have decided to begin posting a ‘Recommended Sunscreens’ series of blogs which will be posted at the end of every month this year. I’ll still be posting the Top 5 (which is entirely based on recommendations and raves from you guys) but I’ll be posting these on the 22nd of each month.

Finding a skin lightening serum or cream that is effective is hard enough.  Finding a sunscreen that you can feel comfortable enough to wear daily shouldn’t. So I figured if I could sift through the plethora of sunscreens out in the market and list the best ones based on my own personal experience and that of the average customer rating, it can create an easy resource for people to refer to when shopping for a sunscreen.

It’s pretty much the dead of winter right now, and I don’t know about any of you but my skin regimen needed to be altered to accommodate this cold, drying weather.  The first thing I have replaced is the Sofina UV Perfect with the more moisturizing yet non-greasy/shiny Olay Complete SPF 15 Sensitive Skin Classic Version (found in most drugstores). I needed to make this change because it has been getting very cold here in Canada, and that is taking a toll on my skin. While I love using the Sofina – it does always end up drying out my skin. Especially near my nose and cheeks where the dry flakes are just way too tedious to deal with.

I will be resuming usage of the Sofina sunscreen as soon as the weather starts warming up…3 months from now. O_o

Anyway, below are the sunscreens that I recommend. Most of these are matte, semi-matte or very lightweight sunscreens but are perfect for all skin types. Even with the dry cold air, wearing a thick, shiny, greasy sunscreen is not the best option. It just ruins everything from the look and feel of makeup to just preserving that fresh look. So below are great non-drying, but very cosmetically elegant sunscreens you can wear:

L'oreal Paris Dermo-Expertise UV Perfect SPF 50/PA+++ (Anti-dullness)

Biore UV Bright Face Milk <-- comes in a pink & white bottle. The pink bottle contains mica which does act as a makeup base. A little hard to find here in the West, but readily available in Japan, Taiwan, China, South Korea, Singapore etc.

BurnOut Clean & Clear Zinc Oxide Sunblock SPF 32 <-- can also be found at Whole Foods stores

Olay Complete SPF 15 Sensitive Skin Classic Formula <--- look for the label "classic' on the box

More to come! =D
