Product Review - Clarins Bright Plus HP Firming Brightening Serum

Clarins Bright Plus HP Firming Brightening Serum is the re-formulated version of their previous total brightening serum. In all honesty, not much has changed from the two versions. The serum promises to combat the look of dull, discolored complexions as well as soften and firm the texture of skin.

It's active ingredients are the patented lock-around system with Alchemilla and Raspberry plant extracts (according to Clarins, they slow down the transfer of melanin creation). It also contains a Vitamin C derivative (Ascorbyl Glucoside) and Manioc (hydration).

The product comes in a 1.06oz vacuum sealed pump bottle which is great for keeping the active ingredients fresh. There is a fragrance to this product that is similar to many other Clarins products. One thing I would like to comment is that the design of the bottle is very misleading. The actual amount of product that is in the bottle is much less in comparison to thee size of the packaging.

Due to the intense hydration this product offers, oily, acne prone or even combo or normal skin types may find it greasy. I definitley found the product to give my skin an extreme dewy look (which I'm not that found of, since I have oily skin).

The results are...well not visible. I used this product for a duration of almost 2 months and saw nothing. No change whatsoever. I didn't see any breaking of pigment, any lightening, fading of spots/scars. Deep down I think I knew not to expect much from this product, but still after forking over the amount of cash that I did to purchase this - I was disappointed.

Granted, I am sure products like the Bright Plus HP Firming Brightening Serum work better in conjunction with the entire Bright Plus line (meaning the cleanser, mask, SPF day lotion, night treatment and age control kit) but those are ridiculously over priced as well.

I would not recommend this product. It may work at fading some freckles or light discolorations if used with other products in the range, but on its own, it is quite useless. The product runs at a steep price - $69.00 (on the official Clarins site, other online sites like Amazon and sephora.com). Some department stores sell it for almost $80.00. I really wouldn't mind that if the product actually had quality and worked, but this one doesn't it. Save your money.
