Product Review - DDF Holistic Lightener

With a host of AHAs and botanical lighteners, DDF Holistic Skin Lightener is designed to fade discolorations and even out the entire skin tone.

It is completley hydroquinone-free, comes in a 0.5 fl oz (15 ml) vacuum sealed, pump bottle. The texture is like a gel, but a bit thicker in consistency. It takes awhile to absorb (not that long) but at least wait 5 minutes before applying anything over it.

I really like the DDF Brightening Cleanser (see review here) and found that it does a great job at brightening my skin and making it look quite even. With that in mind, I purchased the DDF Holistic Lightener shortly afterwards to use together.

This is one of those products that has a lot of potential to be really good, and probably does work on certain skin types/tones/conditions, but I didn't really see much of a difference after using it for almost 3 months. It perplexes me, because it has such great ingredients. Better than Makari or any other botanical skin lightener IMO.

It has Kojic Acid, Azealic Acid, Licorice Extract, Mulberry Extract, Bearberry Extract as well as glycolic, lactic and salicylic acid. It's pretty impressive. The concentration in these botanical lighteners is quite low, and that is the main reason why results are so gradual and mild. It's funny though, because I've read reviews online where people have said this has done a wonderful job at fading scars, discolorations and even lightening up in shades. Too bad, I didn't recieve any of that.

What I can say is that this product is great for acne-prone skin types. Probably one of the most sensitive-skin friendly skin lighteners out there. I am sure, if I used this consistently (meaning bought a second bottle and continued using) I would probably see a bigger and better change, but I don't see that happening any time soon. I am pretty content with my Vichy Bi White, and retinoid + High PPD sunscreen routine right now.

I would recommend this product. It's not bad, and I did see some results. Just don't expect it to work as rapidly or be as potent as Makari. =D
