Product Recommendation - Peter Thomas Roth Oxygenating Serum

As a blogger, I mainly get my inspiration and source from scouring the internet for the latest information on skin lightening and pigmentation correcting breakthroughs. But often times, I learn of great products from you guys - which IMO is the best kind of posts to blog about because it has real experience to back it up.

Someone e-mailed me their own personal review of the Peter Thomas Roth Radiance Oxygenating Serum yesterday and their experience with this product got me incredibly excited and eager to share! The woman who wrote me was interested in fading a stubborn tan (which was not a perma-tan though), several dark spots all over her face due to sun exposure and acne, and a dull complexion. After using this serum twice daily for 7 weeks, her skin is the best it’s ever looked and her tan has faded.

It experiences with products like these that make me love blogging about skin lightening. In a market that is filled with duds, it is always awesome to discover quality skin lightening products!

The Peter Thomas Roth Radiance Oxygenating Serum contains some of the best ingredient I have seen a serum/essence in such a long time! The active ingredients just run the gamut of excellent skin lightening agents, it’s no wonder it worked so well for her.

There are so many great ingredients in here it would be way too lengthy to explain in detail, so here’s just a brief overview of the ingredients:

Symwhite (phenylethyl resorcinol) is the same ingredient found in Dr. Ci Labo’s Super White 377. A plant extract derived antioxidant powerhouse that works very at disrupting hyper melanogenesis.

Gigawhite is one of my favorite ingredients that ALWAYS works on my skin. It’s basically a name for the combination of 7 alpine plant extracts that synergistically lightens overall skin tone. Backed up by solid evidence.

Tyrosinase Inhibitors such as  licorice extract, bearberry extract, mulberry extract

Ascorbyl Glucoside is a stable, vitamin c form

Aside from the active ingredients, the inactive ingredients are impressive as well. I’ve recently learned with the usage of Lantomi’s Skin Lightening Cream that my skin really likes squalene (an oil derived emollient). It is clear the serum has quite a few emollient ingredients and is geared towards dry skin types. On the official brand site, it is marketed toward mature skin types but honestly it can be used on younger skin.
This is a fantastic serum to add to a regimen. If you are looking for a solid, plant extract based skin lightening product – this is it!

The Peter Thomas Roth Radiance Oxygenating Serum comes in a 1oz (30 ml) vacuum sealed pump bottle. It can be found at Sephora and department stores which carry Peter Thomas Roth products. It can also be found readily online. The price is probably its biggest downfall though. The average retail price is about $65.00 =( It has a steep price tag, but if you have the money on hand and are looking for a serum to use this spring, I would recommend it. It’s got some excellent ingredients as well as a wonderful rave by a fellow reader!

Hey Mileena,

So based on the ingredients, you would say this is an effective skin lightener right? I am seriously on the hunt for one! :D

Hi,

Yes! I think it's a great lightener solely based on ingredients. Obviously I haven't tried it, but it's got ingredients that I know my skin responds well to.

There are a few inactive ingredients in there that could be pore-clogging but everyone's skin is different. If you are an ingredient nut like me, I always know which ingredients work and not work for myself since I always examine them and if I noticed a similar ingredient from I product I broke out to in the past, I don't use it. It is geared for dry skin types, but that doesn't mean anything. Lantomi is also for dry skin but my oily skin loves it!

You never know until you try. =)

i always think dat ppl's skins r different. Dis works for jane but doesnt work for rick. Dat works for sam but doesnt work for jess. Potent ingredient is a must, but if it literally does no miracle to u... just make sure u wont cry :D perhaps products wif lower concentration could yield result to some ppl. Dis is God's will and it applies to skincare as well hahaha :D i never expected to see bumps after i used a product which was my super cheap STAPLE. <<I type it wif block letters :)

hey mileena! i wanted to know if you can use 2% hydroquinone around the eyes for dark circles? and on ears?

Hey Randy,

I 100% agree! Everyone's skin is different and it's not always about an active ingredient's potency. Lower concentration products can definitely yield similar or often times BETTER results (all cases are different right?).

It is God's will, lol. Each and everyone of us has unique skin that doesn't respond the same to active ingredients. It's important to check out the inactive ingredients as well to see how pore clogging they really are. Beign observant of the ingredients in your skin care products allows you to be 'aware' of what works and doesn't work for you and look for similar ingredients.

Hi!

Nothing can really be done about dark circles =( There is no concrete evidence showing anything final.

In theory, a vitamin c serum would be best because it builds collagen which may plump up the area slightly and help with brightening up the entire area. La Roche Posay Active C Eyes is the best option for that.

I wouldn't use HQ around the eyes. The risk of getting HQ *in* the eyes is not worth it. Plus it won't do anything if the dark circles are hereditary. 95% of people who have them have them in their genetics so nothing can be done about it because it's more than just pigmentation that's the cause it's the actual skin density and visible blood capillaries.

It can be used around the ears but be careful not to put inside the ear!

This is the unfortunate thing Randy about dark circles. A good concealer is the best and only thing you can do about them. I've looked up so many studies and found no evidence of anything topical that can treat this since it has to do with more than melanin production! It's with skin thinness around that area, the anatomy of the skin around it and the visibility of the blood capillaries. =(

Sometimes tinted moisturizers can help with making dark circles less harsh looking. =)

Hi Mileena,

Offtopic but do you know how much you paid for duty fees for the C Clarity? I ordered one and I need to leave the money home with my roommates incase they drop it off when I am not here. I don't exactly have cash lying around, is it like under 10? I live in Canada as well so...I know we should have similar fees right?

Hi!

I paid no duty fees! I ordered off the official ShopUNT website and they offer free delivery for standard/registered mail. My roommate did sign for it though, but that's it :)

No problem! =D I was exactly the same when I first ordered, I forgot to read the duty fees/shipping internationally rules. It's a relief! <333

Enjoy the C Clarity. It's one of my favorite products of all time! =)

A point on dark circles, actually it can sometime relate to liver, and under eyes are the first place to show the signs, lots of water, cleansing herbs like milkthisle and more sleep, less alcohol, smoke etc tend to do the trick.

You're right Jen. It has been linked to many things. Having a healthy diet and lifestyle can play a huge role in the overall look of our skin and the dark circles themselves, but a lot of times dark circles are hereditary and very little can be done aside from keeping them from becoming darker or using vitamin c serums. Vitamin K can help topically.

I've never heard of milkthisle being used - very interesting. Thanks for the points :)
