Product Recommendation: Exuviance Skin Brightening Gel

Marketed as a skin brightening product but definitley a skin lightener - the Exuviance Skin Brightening Gel is something I got my eyes set on. I love my current regimen, and though I am pretty much at my goal skin tone, I could probably go a little further in evening everything out with this little gem. Or perhaps even lightening that last little bit so my face and neck are completley, 100% even with my body. ;)

Those who message me personally may already know about this, since I probably have mentioned it or recommended it for you (depending on your skin lightening goals).

What I like about this one is not that it has anything new or incredibly spectacular in it, but just the fact that it has great proven ingredients, is (somewhat for a skin lightener lol) affordable ($35.00) and is readily available. Canadians are in luck, because Exuviance products are sold at Shoppers Drug Mart (popular drugstore chain here) and this product is a top seller.

The skin lightening ingredients in the Exuviance Skin Brightening Gel are great. It is a synergistic skin lightener (exfoliates + lightens with more strength), much like DDF Holistic Lightener and the Arcona Skin Lightening Drops. It contains Polyhydroxy acid (PHA), Lactic acid, Glycolic acid, Gluconolactone, Kojic Acid, Vitamin C, Mulberry Extract, Bearberry Extract and Licorice Extract. Kojic acid being the most potent out of the lightening agents, I think this is a great basic skin lightener for all skin types since it is oil-free.

According to Exuviance, it should banish dullness, promote a radiant complexion, fade acne marks and dark spots and create a brighter appearance.

I'm excited to try something a bit strong than Phyto+. I'll be sure to do a product review on it.

NOTE: This product is in limited stock or in the process of being discontinued. Rats! It's a great one though =(

Ingredients:

Aqua (Water), Alcohol Denat., Propylene Glycol, Gluconolactone, Glycolic Acid , Kojic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, PEG-4, Polyquaternium-10, Citric Acid, Lactic Acid, Arginine, Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C), Arctostaphylos Uva Ursi (Bearberry) Leaf Extract, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Morus Bombycis (Mulberry) Root Extract, Sodium Bisulfite, BHT, Sodium Sulfite, Butylene Glycol, Methylparaben, Propylparaben, CI 19140 (Yellow 5), CI 17200 (Red 33).

Hello, how are you able to tell it's stronger than phyto+? position of kojic acid on ingredients list?

Wohoo! I was hoping you would do a review on a skin lightening gel that is attainable at Shoppers Drug Mart or something. I used to use Neurostrata Hq that did work but I wasn't comfortable with it because of the hydroquinone. I can't wait to hear the review but I'd like to also get started on it. Do the ingredients look good enough to suggest it'll work? And Like my skin tone at the moment is something similar to Kelly Rowland. My aim skin goal is Zoe Saldana. Is that possible or is that beyond my skin's limit? And I asked you before as well but I do use Makari Caviar and I use Extratone and Fluid from hypercreme on my body and face. So far no results and it's been just under a month. So is the shade lightening possible or not? And what else products would you recommend to speed the process up a bit? I exfoliate regularly with St. Ives apricot scrub with 2% salicylic acid.
Thanks!

Looking where an ingredient is on the list really does give you a pretty good guestimate on how strong it is.

It's not only that, it's only the other ingredients. There are more in this product, and the ones in here do work well with my skin - mulberry extract and bearberry extract, as well as lactic acid which helps to penetrate these ingredients deeper into the skin.

Are you protecting the skin on your body with protective coating OR sunscreen?

There is a skin lightening theshold (which I will write a full article about). The melanin in our skin can only lighten so much due to to many factors like it's concentration (realistic goals are important) amongst other things.

There are many cases where people lighten 5 shades. But it is up to you to find which ingredients work best with your skin.

The Dermo White Body Lightening Lotion I believe is pretty decent at lightening body skin and is much cheaper than Makari's body lightening milk so that can be an alternative for your body.

With exfoliation, sunscreen and a lightener + time that's all you really can do.

But as far as the Exuviance is concerned, I totally know what you mean about finding a good product locally near us. It's a great find and I think it can definitley help in your case. =)

I'm excited to hear about your results with the Exuviance. I've been using the Phyto + daily now for six months and although I do notice some lightening, many of my scars are still very dark. I ordered the UNT Ex White 2 a couple of days ago and can't wait to try it. I would use the Neostrata HQ but it is just SO sticky. When I put it on my arm and a scar on my knee I find that my clothes stick to them and little fibers collect on the spots, lol. I'm really hoping the UNT is not as sticky :)

The UNT from what I heard is not moisturizing at all, but it isn't as sticky/tightening as the HQ.

Generally a product needs some emollient property to make it less sticky since drying or a product with completley no moisturizing ingredients has that effect. But I know the UNT's is definitley not super sticky like the Neostrata.

I know! =) I'm going to start using it tonight. I'm super excited, if it works well I'm gonna be so glad since it's a product that is so close and local to me (and Canadians in general). ;)

I saw it in the one at East Mall in Etobicoke. It might be in limited stock or in the process of being discontinued. Either way, there are places online you can still get it. I got it online as well.

If you have beautiful skin weather it be the tone of Kelly Rowland or Zoe Saldona why would you use a lightening cream. Be happy with your own complexion. This product should be used with people who have real skin challenges i.e., acne, scars, dark spots, freckles etc.

I agree that you should love your complexion, but it is ultimatley the choice of the person. As long as it is done in a safe way, skin lightening is unique for everyone and can mean different things like lightening overall sun damage or in other cases, lightening up by shades.

In this blog, I cover all areas of lightening and cater to all pigmentation challenges.
