Vichy Bi White Reveal: In-Depth Look

From all the comments and e-mails I get regarding the many skin lightening products I discussed on All About Skin Lightening, the most frequent one I get inquired about is Vichy Bi White. Since I posted about it, that blog post has gotten a lot of hits. I've decided since I only reviewed one product out of the entire range, that I should discuss my thoughts on Vichy Bi White Double Reveal as a whole, as well touch on the other products in the line.

One big confusion out there is the difference between the Vichy Bi White Corrective Care and the Vichy Bi White Reveal Double Whitening Essence. The former is the previous 'version' of Bi White. The active ingredients were different and this product was available all the way up to mid-2009, in which it was replaced by the Double Reveal skin lightening products. The Corrective Care was incredibly effective, however it did end up clogging my pores because of the soybean oil content. It's active ingredients were Procystein, L-ascorbic acid and licorice extract.

The Double Reveal line is actually completley revamped. The main 'star' of the product - the Whitening Essence has a vitamin c derivative (not pure ascorbic acid), Ceramide White (patented complex), LHA and licorice extract.

Ceramide White is a patented melanin inhibitor which acts at the stage of cellular communication as a messenger. It reduces melanin by controlling the cellular signal at the origin of melanin production.

As many of you know, I did use Vichy Bi White Reveal Double Whitening Essence for 6 months and found it did exactly what it had promised. My skin did become slightly fairer from using it. I also found it worked excellently at fading acne marks as well as instantly brightening up the look of my skin (titanium dioxide content and ascorbyl glucoside contributed to this instant skin brightening effect).

The study done on the Bi White Reveal Double Corrective Whitening Essence showed that after 8 weeks of daily usage, brown spots and other forms of localized hyperpigmentaion reduced by 17.4% and overall pigmentation lightened by 14%.

Taking this into consideration and knowing that skin lightening is unique to each person, one shouldn't expect Vichy Bi White to lighten their skin dramatically. In many ways, I would classify it as a strong skin brightener.

Below is the list of all the products in the Bi White Double Reveal line. There are some great ones in there, particularily the toning lotion, day cream and night cream.

1) Vichy Bi White Reveal Double Corrective Whitening Deep Cleansing Foam - an oil-free foaming cleanser with LHA and ceramide white. This probably won't do anything much except do a weak exfoliation job.

2) Vichy Bi White Reveal Double Corrective Whitening Lotion - A decent toner. It contains Vitamin CG (antioxidant melanin inhibitor that decreases skin cell's pigmentation), Ceramide White and LHA. Overtime it can probably break up some pigment. This particular toner is not oil-free so it's best for normal/dry or combination skin types. Ideal for the fall/winter.

3) Vichy Bi White Reveal Anti Dark Circle Corrective Care - an eye contour cream with LHA, niacinamide and ceramide white. I've read a few reviews of this and I am not impressed. Most skin lighteners do very little for dark circles. Your best bet is a vitamin c eye cream like La Roche Posay Active C Eyes. Much more effective IMO.

4) Vichy Bi White Reveal Double Corrective Care Whitening Essence - The 'serum' of the line. Contains LHA and ceramide white, salicylic acid, licorice extract. Decent skin brightening product.

5) Vichy Bi White Reveal Double Corrective Care Whitening Day Cream SPF 20 PA+++ - Now this one looks fantastic! It has a PPD of 8-10, SPF of 20, is semi matte in finish and has LHA, Ceramide white, Vitamin CG, Vitamin E, Diakalite/Titane. Those sensitive to Vitamin E probably won't like this, but a great day cream. The reviews I've read off cozycot are just glowing for this product.

6) Vichy Bi White Reveal Double Corrective Whitening Night Cream - Moisturizing, rich night cream that looks procysteine, ceramide white, vitamin CG, salyclic acid. Procysteine was the active ingredient in the original Vichy Bi White line which I find to be a much more effective molecule at lightening skin.

7) Vichy Bi White Reveal Double Corrective Whitening emulsion - a basic moisturizer with LHA

In some select stores that sell Vichy Bi White Reveal products, all the products are available. Most do not carry all the products (the night cream etc.). As always, online is a great way to get a hold of these products.

Hi!

The Ponds Age Miracle Serum looks a great product. It's similar to the Vichy Bi White Essence in that it will brighten your skin and probably help to fade any dark spots or acne marks.

It will improve the texture and overall look of your skin (even toned) since it will exfoliate it.

Because it has retinol in it, make sure to use it at night only since all retinoids degrade in sunlight.

Hi Eileen,

Is the Thermal Spa Water the toner you are reffering to (Corrective Whitening Lotion)?

If so, that is used after cleansing either day or night. The Whitening Emulsion is a hydrator that you use before sunscreen. That can be used day or night as well, it's basically an exfoliating moisturizer. =)

HI Milenna,
Thanks for answering me :)

I have another question, what do you think about the shiseido(Anessa) sunscreens, they all have PA+++.

Most Japanese brand sunscreens are great and much better in finish (matte quality) than US or European brand sunscreens.

I've read a lot of hit or miss reviews on Anessa. I still think Sofina is better and actually probably the best out there. PA+++ is a measurement system that equates to rought a PPD of 10-12 (UVA protection) which is good.
